Over the weekend we celebrated Dawson at our shower and it was wonderful! I was hoping for a simple gathering with our closest friends and family in anticipation of our newest arrival and it was just that. I had such a good time and I thank everyone who could be there with us. Now for the details!
I knew long before becoming pregnant that I wanted our next baby to have a celebration with neutrals, golds + greenery. What can I say, I plan ahead! So whether baby #2 was a girl or a boy I had this vision in mind! As usual, my Mom and I worked together to craft the fabulous day. She found a few pieces of adorable decor and Pinterested some DIY projects as well. Everything turned out picture perfect!

Thank you, Mom! đ
One of my favorite parts about party planning is finding the perfect invitation to set the tone and match the event! The invitation for Dawsonâs baby shower were ordered from Basic Invite and I am so happy to have discovered their products. They have nearly unlimited color customization options, over 40 different colored envelopes available and gorgeous foil options! They not only have baby shower invitations but selections for gender reveal, wedding invitations, birthdays and all the matching stationary to choose from!
Since our party was going to be a classic neutral theme I chose an invitation to match. I absolutely loved the Petit Jardin invites and everyone else did as well! I highly recommend browsing the website for your next event! Basic Invite is offering my readers 15% off with the code 15FF51.
I wanted to keep the food table relatively simple and light so I opted for deviled eggs, hummus and spinach artichoke dip. We had various crackers and veggies to go with the dips. As for beverages we had sparkling cider, sparkling water and regular water for our guests.
And what kind of party would it be without dessert? My mom made this gorgeous cake and my mother in law brought the sweetest mini cupcakes that were perfect for little hands – or a tiny treat for an expecting mommy with Gestational Diabetes! *insert eyeroll here* We also added homemade fudge and macaroons to the dessert spread.
I always love to decorate our entry table for various parties or holidays so it was no surprise that we dolled it up! I found this “oh baby” balloon banner at Wal-Mart and I love how it gave a pop right when guests walked in the door. On the table we had decor, a framed picture of Dawson (the only good one we have so far!) and a calendar for everyone to guess his birthday. I made the same calendar for Juliette’s baby shower and it’s such a fun keepsake for the baby book. We will see if anyone is right!
Behind the main table we hung eucalyptus hoops that my Grandmother aka “Mama” DIY’d for us! I love them so much I am keeping them and finding them a place in my office. As you can see we added greenery throughout the party – on the cake, in the balloon garland I made and in my favorite vase from Ikea.

How fun is it that me and my good friend Christina are due 18 days apart with our boys!
